Transport workers attack students

nonameTransport workers blocked the Narayanganj portion of Dhaka-Chattogram highway for eight hours on Wednesday to counter the ongoing student demonstration demanding safe roads.
The workers also demanded the security of them and the vehicles during the shut-down in Siddhirganj. Transport owners too joined the demo demanding compensations of their losses.
During the blockade, some students and passengers were allegedly beaten by the workers.
The enclosure left hundreds of people to suffer forming a 20-kilometre gridlock in the area.
However, Narayanganj Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Monirul Islam confirmed that the normal vehicle movement resumed around 5:30pm.
The demonstrating workers attacked on the students and passengers in front of the police, claimed some of the victims.
They alleged that police didn’t act to protect them.
