Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man who was sentenced to death by a Gazipur court 11 years ago, after being convicted in the murder case of Advocate Sohel in 2008.
The fugitive Saimon Shahriar Sajal, 30, was arrested from Jonopath Mor area of Sayedabad, Jatrabari on Thursday (Nov 1).
“Acting on a tip-off, the elite force conducted a drive in the area, and arrested the fugitive in the murder case of Firozzaman Sohel in March, 2008,” said RAB-1 Company Commander (Porabari Camp) Abdullah Al Mamun.
On Mar 11, a case was filed with Joydebpur police station in this regard.
A district court sentenced five people to death including Saimon Shahriar Sajal back in 2016. The court rendered the verdict against Sajal in absentia, and he was on the run for the past 11 years to avoid arrest.
