A tiny tot was admitted to hospital Sunday as she was beaten by her school headmaster in Bogura.
Students of class one, Zakia Sultana Asha and her four friends, after the school hour, were standing on a bench inside their classroom with muddy shoes.
The headmaster of Bogura Police Line Government Primary School Abdur Razzak, who was passing through the class, become furious seeing them and hit them with a stick.
The guardians rushed to the school when they were informed about incident.
Parent of Asha Constable Jahangir Alam said, “My daughter admitted to hospital as she got hurt in hand and on the back.”
I informed about the incident to Police Super and Chairman of School Managing Committee Mokbul Hossain and he asked me to submit a written complaint, Alam said.
Sub-inspector Touhidul Islam, parent of another student Monika, said, “The headmaster has violent and threatening behaviour. He beat up five children over a trifling matter.”
Headmaster Razzak said the children were dancing on the bench with muddy shoes and he mildly told them off but did not beat them.
He requested the reporter not to write any report as it might tarnish the image of the school.
Police Super Mokbul Hossain said, there is no provision to physically assault any child.
The headmaster made a mistake by assaulting them, he added.
“After hearing this, I sent a member of my committee and he found evidence of the incident,” he said.
We will take legal action against the headmaster if the guardians file written complaints, he added.
