Barishal policemen removed on bribe allegations

Assistant Sub-Inspector Delwar HossainAn assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a constable in the southern district of Barishal have been suspended and closed to the district's police lines on allegation of taking a bribe to release a group of fishermen.
The policemen who face suspension are ASI Delwar Hossain and Constable Sumon Shikder of Barishal's Mehendiganj police.
The move came hours after Bangla Tribune ran a report on Saturday (Oct 19) morning.
Following the report, higher officials of the district police looked into the matter and took the action.
Barishal SP Saiful Islam said the ASI and the constable were suspended as they allegedly took Tk 65,000 in bribe to release 10 fishermen after detaining them the Upazila's Lalkharabad river recently. 
Both policemen have been attached with  the police lines
Departmental action will be taken against them, Islam said.
