The relatives may have been involved in the brutal murder of a five-year-old boy in the northeastern district of Sunamganj's Derai, police said.
Earlier on Monday (Oct 14), the body of Tuhin Hasa was found hanging from a tree, with two sharp weapons stabbed inside his stomach, his throat slit, ears and genitals cut off as blood dripped from his clothes.
Police quizzed several members of the victim’s family and suspected the boy’s relatives might have been involved in the incident,” Sunamganj SP Mizanur Rahman said on Monday.
Following the murder, police took several people, including the boy’s father Abdul Bassir, uncles Abdul Machhbir, Nasir Uddin, and Azibul Islam, aunt Khairunnesa and cousin Tania Begum, to custody for interrogation.
“The boy might have been killed as a sequel of previous enmity,” Rahman said.
Police were processing to file a case, the official said adding the relatives will be quizzed more.
According to the police and the victim’s family, Tuhin was sleeping with his parents on the same bed but when his father woke up in the middle of the night to go to the washroom he saw the door of the house was open and could not find his son anywhere.
Then, the victim's family along with their neighbours started searching for the boy in the nearby area and after a while they found his dead body hanging from a tree and reported to the police.
