Eighteen-month-old Md Tawhid, from Lakurtala village of Barguna’s Sadar Upazila, died on Friday (Aug 2) while being treated at medical college hospital in Barishal, family said.
On Jul 30, Tawhid fell sick and was taken to the state-run hospital in the district town where he was treated with dengue fever, Rita Akater, mother of Tawhid, told Bangla Tribune.
On Jul 2, he was shifted to Barishal’s Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment where he passed away, the mother added.
Meanwhile, Barguna’s Civil Surgeon Office recorded 43 people getting infected with dengue in the district and 15 undergoing treatment at the state-run hospital.
Bangladesh is witnessing the worst dengue outbreak this year with as many as 21,235 people getting infected while another 14 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease since Jan 1, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Friday.
