Injured over Eid jamayat clash in NaogaonA clash between two groups, over Eid-ul-Fitr prayer in Naogao’s Raninagar Upazila, left at least eight persons injured on Saturday, said the OC of Raninagar Police Station, ASM Siddiqur Rahman.
The incident took place at Kashimpur on Eid day. Two groups of villagers from Dakshinpara (south fraction) and Uttarpara (north fraction) of Kashimpur engaged in a clash over the starting time of Eid Jamayat (Eid congregation), the OC said.
Reportedly, the southern fraction was supposed to pray at 8:30am while 9am was stipulated for the northern side residents.
Reportedly, southern fraction people came to the spot, snatched the microphone from the Imam and tried to drive him out.
Police reached the area soon after the mayhem started.
“The perpetrators will be brought under justice soon though no case has been lodged as yet”, OC Siddiq said.
