Two minor girls have drowned in Jamuna River in Tangail’s Bhuiyanpur Upazila.
The incident was reported from Chituliapara village of the Upazila’s Gaobindadasi union on Friday (Apr 19), said Bhuiyanpur police OC Rashidul Islam.
The deceased have been identified as Mitu, 4, daughter of Mhon, and Chonya, 6, daughter of Suman. They were cousins and hailed from Chituliapara village.
Locals said, the girls went to bathe in river without informing the family. As they went missing for a while, family started searching.
Later, they recovered the floating bodies from the river.
