Social media star Ashraful Hossen Alom, better known as Hero Alom, has been released on bail after spending 43 days behind bars on charges of assaulting his wife.
He was released from the jail on Thursday (Apr 18) hours after the court of Bogura’s District and Sessions Judge granted bail to him.
Hero Alom was arrested on Mar 6, when he went to the Bogura police station to file a complaint against his wife and father-in-law, hours after a case was lodged against him on charges of assaulting his wife.
He was sent to jail the next day after police produced him in court.
The 28-year-old rose to fame with amateur music videos that fired up social media. He emerged on the political scene when he contested in the parliamentary polls as an independent candidate after failing to secure a ticket of HM Ershad’s Jatiya Party.
