ChittagongA sixteen-year old girl faced inhumane torture and savage behavior, which included cigarette burns, cutting of hair and repeated intimidation.
Fearing for her life, the girl kept quiet but the girl’s aunt informed the police who provided legal support.
“The girl used to live with her aunt after her father married a second time following the death of her mother; working in a garment factory, she met auto rickshaw driver, Nizam, and developed a relation,” Chattogram police OC Nizam Uddin told Bangla Tribune.
At one point, Nizam promised marriage and they rented a flat in Choumohoni area of Chattogram. However, Nizam was already married and his wife, Tania, along with others brought both Nizam and the girl to their house where the latter was tortured. They also got a written statement signed by the girl promising that she would not lodge a case.”
Later, when the girl’s aunt informed the police, Nizam was arrested along with Tania and other accomplices.
