A local BNP leader in Bogura has been hacked to death by unknown assailants.
The incident was reported around 10:30pm on Sunday (Apr 14) on the main street in front of Nishindara Housing Estate area of the town.
The deceased, Mahbub Alam Shahin, 55, was the general secretary of Bogra sadar upazila unit of BNP.
Following the attack, bystanders took him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Sanatan Chakrabarty, additional superintendent of police (ASP) said, "Shahin used to hang around and meet with his friends and collegues in the market area near Nishindara Housing Estate. About five to seven people attacked Shahin with bladed weapons while he was returning home."
The reason behind the killing is yet to be determined, added the police officer.
