A Sunamganj local leader of the ruling party has been stabbed to death, says police.

Police has arrested three suspects over the incident, which was reported on Tuesday (Mar 19) morning.

The victim, Jaynal Abedin was Sunamganj Sadar Upazila’s Jahangirnagar Union Awami League unit’s general secretary, said the Sadar police OC Md Shahidulah.

“The body has been sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autupsy,” he said before adding that the incident could have stemmed from old enmity.

Locals say, Abedin was a popular leader in the area.
