A local leader of the ruling Awami League has been allegedly hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Pabna.

The incident was reported from Char Shibrampur area in the district’s Sadar Upazila around 4.15pm on Thursday (Feb 7), said police.

The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Khairul Islam, a member of ward no 9 Hemayetpur union Krishak League.
Quoting locals, police said that some unidentified miscreants swooped on Khairul when he went to the Sluice Gate area in the union for catching fish. Khairul died on the spot."
“Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body,” said Additional Superintendent of police Gautam Kumar Biswas before adding, “The body has been sent to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy.”

“We have initiated probe over the killing,” added Biswas.

Police are suspecting that miscreants might have killed him over previous enmity.
