A road accident in Tangail has claimed the life of a local Awami League leader identified as Badal Mia, 40.

The incident was reported around 1:30pm on Friday (Jan 4) at Jolfoi area on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway, said police.

The deceased was the organizational secretary of East Tangail unit Awami League.

Traffic police sergeant Rajon Datta said that a Dhaka-bound bus ran over a motorbike, the victim was riding killing him on the spot. The incident also left another injures, he said.

The injured was taken to Tangail General Hospital after police reached the scene.

The body of the deceased was sent to the morgue, he added.
