Oikya Front Gaibandha-3 candidate Fazle Rabbi dies at 84

Oikya Front candidate for Gaibandha-3 Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi ChowdhuryFormer minister and opposition alliance Oikya Front candidate for Gaibandha-3, Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury has passed away.
He died in the early hours of Thursday (Dec 20), while undergoing treatment at the capital’s United Hospital.
The Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar led) leader was suffering from high blood pressure and lung problems for quite some time.
Sadullahpur BNP leader Shafiul Islam Shapan said that he was also suffering from cardiac diseases and had been unable to take part in the polls campaign due to his illness.
He was scheduled to campaign on Thursday but was rushed to United Hospital when he complained of sudden chest pains.
Born on Oct 1, 1934, Chowdhury was elected as a Member of Parliament five times and also served as a minister three times. He was serving as the acting chairman of Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar led) and was contesting the upcoming polls with Oikya Front under ‘paddy sheaf.’
Rabbi had a long political career spanning decades. In 1984, he joined the HM Ershad led Jatiya Party and served as Ershad’s political affairs advisor. He also served as the minister for land, minister for and minister for establishment.
