An Awami Jubo League leader has been stabbed and shot to death at Noakhali’s Sadar Upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased is 24-year-old Md Hanif, General Secretary of Jubo League's Ewazbalia union unit, said the front’s district convener Imon Bhatt.
“BNP and Jamaat leaders attacked us indiscriminately today in addition to vandalizing two polls offices” Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, AL’s Noakhali-4 candidate told the media on Tuesday (Dec 11).
Chowdhury alleged that, later at 4:45 pm, around 200-250 of the attackers assaulted Hanif, at the orders of former Ewazbalia union Chairman Md Shahjahan and Chatradal General Secretary Rizvi.
“He was stabbed and then shot but they had rubbed red pepper powder on his face first,” he said.
Locals took a mutilated Hanif to Noakhali General Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.
The hospital’s Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Syed Mahiuddin corroborated Chowdhury’s claim that Hanif was brought to the hospital dead with multiple stab and gunshot wounds and powdered red pepper on his face.
