Reza Kibria’s nomination cancelled

Reza KibriaOikya Front leader Reza Kibria’s nomination for Habiganj-1 constituency has been revoked.
Habiganj district Returning Officer Mahmudul Kabir Murad cancelled his nomination on Sunday (Dec 2) as he was found a loan defaulter at City Bank.
Reza Kibria, son of former finance minister and Awami League leader Shah AMS Kibria wanted to contest the Dec 30 national polls under the anti-government alliance Jatiya Oikya Front with BNP’s electoral symbol ‘paddy sheaf.’
An economist, Reza Kibria, joined Dr Kamal Hossain’s Gano Forum, one of the founding parties of Jatiya Oikya Front.
Reza’s father Shah AMS Kibria served as the finance minister during Sheikh Hasina’s 1996-2001 tenure. He was the lawmaker from the Habiganj-3 constituency in 2001.
On Jan 27, 2005, Kibria along with four others were killed in a grenade attack at a party rally on Boidder Bazar primary school ground in Habiganj’s Sadar Upazila.
Two cases were opened over the Kibria killing, but the trial is yet to finish.
