Sirajganj headmaster accused of sexually harassing indigenous student

SirajganjA school headmaster at Sirajganj has been accused of sexual harassment by a student of the institution.
Abdus Sattar, the headmaster of Gulta Adibashi Girls’ High School in Talom union of Tarash upazila has been allegedly harassing students of the institution for some time.
However, Tarash police did not take the complaint until Saturday evening.
Sattar has had several complaints against him in the past regarding the molestation of helpless poor and indigenous students plus local women.
Reportedly, locals are aware of the alleged lecherous behavior of the headmaster.
In reply to journalists, the girl’s father said: “On Friday morning, when Abdus Sattar’s wives weren’t home, he lured the girl under the pretext of needing help with cooking. However, he touched her inappropriately and tried to rape her.”
Somehow, she managed to run away and told other students and teachers about the incident.
” Later, the family went to submit a complaint with Tarash police which they declined to take.”
Meanwhile, the headmaster has gone into hiding. School managing committee chairman, Motaleb Hossain, said: “we tried many times to contact the headmaster but couldn’t reach him, even his phone is switched off.” Tarash police OC, Mostafizur Rahman, said: “the girl with her father came to file a complaint of sexual harassment on Friday night and police will take further action after conducting a primary investigation on Sunday.”
Tarash and Ullapara circle assistant superintendent of police, Sharafat Islam, said: “I will look into the incident, plus the statement of OC Mostafizur Rahman.”
