Woman killed on running bus in Ashulia

SavarA woman was allegedly kidnapped and killed after her father was thrown out from a running bus in Ashulia.

It is being alleged that the bus driver and his associates killed the woman, identified as Jarina Khatun, 45, and left her body by the roadside.

Police recovered the body around 11:30pm Friday (Nov 9) from Abdullahpur-Baipail Highway in Moragang area.

Khatun and her father Akbar Ali Mondol were returning from visiting her daughter Ashulia. During their journey back to Tangail, an argument ensued with the bus-driver, helper and supervisor. The helpers, at one point, started to beat them and threw Jarina’s father from the bus and under the Ashulia Bridge around 8pm, according to police and family sources.

Mondol, a few minutes later, informed the police about the incident.

A police patrol team around midnight found the body of Khatun by the roadside.

Ashulia police Inspector Jabed Masud told Bangla Tribune that the body has been recovered and we are trying to hunt down the perpetrators.

A case was filed by the victim's son in law Nur Islam, added Masud.
