Three-trafficked-girls-return-homeThree Bangladeshi women who were trafficked to India two and a half years ago returned home on Thursday (Sept 20).

Members of Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the young ladies to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after which they returned to the country through the Benapole checkpost in Jashore.

Rehana Khatun,19, Ratna Khatun,20 and Laboni Akhter, 22 were tricked into going to India by a trafficking gang with promises of better jobs.

After the traffickers deserted them, the girls eventually found shelter with Shonglap, a non-government organization in Kolkata.

They were then returned to the country following due procedure that took two and a half years.

Abu Saleh Masud Karim, OC of Benapole port police station said, that the girls will be handed over to human-rights activist Bazlur Rahman in Jashore.

“Bazlur will help them return to their families,” said the OC.
