Two ‘drug dealers’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘shootout’

ShootoutTwo suspected drug peddlers were killed in a so-called gun battle with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Panerchhora area of Ramu Upazila on Tuesday morning.
The victims were identified as Nizam Uddin, 35, and Ratan Rudra, 30, said the Company Captain of RAB-7 Major Mehedi Hasan.
Being informed about Yaba trafficking in an oil tanker, a team of RAB set up a check post in Panerchhora, the major said.
Around 4:30am the tanker appeared at the post it tried to flee and four or five persons from the lorry started firing at RAB.
At one point, traffickers fled leaving the lorry after the elite force fired back, Mehedi added.
RAB found the two bodies from the scene after the skirmish.
The lawmen also recovered five lakh of Yaba pills, two pistols and two LNG guns from the spot.
