Investors want PM's intervention in BSEC probe

The investors under the banner of Bangladesh Pujibazar Biniogkari Oikya Parishad placed their 21-point demand at a press conference in Dhaka on Tuesday (Oct 29).
The investors urged the government to reshuffle the current commission of the capital market regulator for failure in reviving the market after the 2009-10 debacle.
Bangladesh Pujibazar Biniogkari Oikya Parishad President Mizan ur Rashid Chowdhury demanded the resignation of M Khairul Hossain, the longest-serving chairman of the BSEC.
General Secretary of the platform's Abdur Razzaq said, “The BSEC chairman is working for the issuer companies and stockbrokers, not for investors.”
He demanded the chairman’s resignation for what he called his failure to protect investors' rights.
The market capitalization at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropped by 15.51% or Tk 654.11 billion in the last nine months. The prime index, DSEX lost about 1,250 points from its highest hit of 5,950 points, since Jan 24 this year.
