A court in Dhaka dealing with food-related matters has ordered the arrest of Pran-RFL Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ahsan Khan Chowdhury.
On Sunday (Jun 23), Special Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Pavel of the Pure Food Court issued a warrant against him after he failed to appear in a hearing.
Chowdhury’s counsels pleaded for more time for their client citing health issues but the court turned it down before ordering police to arrest him, Food Inspector Md Kamrul Islam, the plaintiff of the case, told Bangla Tribune.
The court has fixed Jul 30 for the next hearing.
The case was filed on May 22 as the business group did not recall its products, which included in the 52 unsafe food items ordered by the High Court to remove from the market.
