Stocks continue to rally on higher turnover

FILE PHOTO/Mehedi HasanRally at the stock markets continued for the third consecutive session of the week today when the major indicators at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges were found in upward trend with higher transactions, reports BSS.
The day’s trade value at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased to Tk 5.79 billion from Monday’s Tk 4.85 billion and the daily trade rose to 148.5 million shares from 131.1 million shares of the previous session.
DSEX, the major price index of the DSE, closed the day with 44.39 points up at 5,475.98. The Shariah DSES and Blue-Chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 12.52 points up at 1,244.54 and with 20.16 points up at 1,921.83.
The higher activity pushed prices of 224 securities up across the board. Only 75 scrips finished the day lower, with 53 closing unchanged.
The major gaining issues were QUASEMIND, Global Insurance, Sonali Ansh, SEMLFBSLGF and New Line Clothing while the major losing issues were VAMLBDMF1, Imam Button, HWAWELLTEX, Dacca Dyeing and Midas Finance.
UPGDCL topped the turnover leaders followed by JMISMDL, BBS Cables, Square Pharma and KPCL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 158.85 points up at 16,773.44.
At CSE, 268 issues were traded. Of those, 175 closed higher and 57 closed lower while 10.6 million shares worth Tk 489.9 million changed hands.
