BRTC to procure vehicles from India.

The state-owned transport service provider BRTC will import 200 AC, 400 non-AC buses and 500 trucks under Indian Line of Credit (LOC).

“Procurement process for bringing 400 buses and 500 trucks is at final stage under the LOC,” Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told this, while replying to a starred question from opposition bench member Selim Uddin of Sylhet-5 in the Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.

He said Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) would float a tender for procuring 200 AC buses soon, adding, “The digitize system is being implemented at depots of the BRTC for ensuring transparency.”

The minister said recruitment process of different positions along with drivers is underway as part of the government’s various initiatives to revive loss of the BRTC, adding, “Maintaining a goal for ‘providing service’ the BRTC is giving service with fair price.”
