Tk 402m incentives for Aush production

The government has rolled out a slew of incentives worth Tk 401.8 million in seeds, fertilisers and cash for farmers to promote Aush rice production.
As many as 459,226 small and marginal farmers in the 64 districts across the country will be covered under the scheme, Agriculture Minister Md Abdur Razzaque told the media on Thursday (Mar 21).
“Under the package, each farmer will get 5 kg of seed, 25 kg fertiliser –15 kg of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10 kg of muriate of Potash (MoP) as well as Tk 875 in cash for miscellaneous expenses, like transportation, for one bigha of land,” he said.
The government has set a target to farm Aush paddy on nearly 1.37hectares of land this year. However, the incentives will cover cultivation on nearly 61, 355 hectares of land, according to the minister.
The production target under the scheme is 156,452 metric tonnes worth about Tk 5.79 billion, he added.
