Planning ministry sources say that in the last two tenures of the Awami League government, the country has seen development worth more than Tk 20,000 billion.
This is a record since the country became independent in 1971.
In the last ten years, 151 ECNEC meets were held presided by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and many fast-track projects got approval. These projects include – Padma Bridge, Rooppur Nuclear Plant, Matarbari Power Plant, Rampal Plant, LNG terminals, Payra Port, Sonadia Deep Sea Port, Ramu-Ghumdum single gauge rail line etc.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, said, “Such massive developing has been possible since this government has a pro-development stance; there isn’t a single area of the country which has not been touched by development.”
The economy of Bangladesh has seen sustainable development; he said and added, “The attainment of Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, has been included in the seventh five-year plan.”
Under this plan, projects are being implemented to raise Bangladesh to a mid-income status by 2021 and a middle-income one by 2041.
Finance minister AMA Muhith said, “Once these projects are implemented, this will be a prosperous Bangladesh.”
