Bangladesh is planning to introduce 5G network technology by 2021.
This next generation of wireless technology is expected to change the way of everyday life as it play vital role in automatic driving, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Big data, Internet of Things, Smart City and network.
The government, in cooperation with Huawei and Robi, Wednesday demonstrated 5G technology for the first time in Bangladesh.
The demonstration recorded a highest speed 4.17 Gbps for the wireless broadband.
On Feb 19 this year, Bangladesh introduced 4G mobile internet and all mobile phone network operators started offering the fastest internet services immediately after receiving the 4G/LTE license from the telecom regulator.
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mostafa Jabbar said, “This developed technology will spread all over the world between 2020 and 2030 and Bangladesh cannot be left behind.”
It will enhance all aspects of people’s life that are already influenced by the use of digital technology, he said.
“Education, commerce, governance, health services, transportation, banking and all sorts of communications in general will undergo a massive change.”
5G radio access will be built upon both new radio access technologies (RAT) and evolved existing wireless technologies (LTE, HSPA, GSM and WiFi).
The technology will realise networks capable of providing zero-distance connectivity between people and connected machines, he said.
