Once video game shops were common entertainment spots; this paved way to X-Box, play station, gaming consul and others. But in the evolution of games, laptop is now the most preferred medium.
Gaming laptops available in the market cost from Tk 150000 to Tk 1 million though reportedly, there are laptops which cost a staggering Tk 2.3 million.
Different gaming laptops, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte are available and there are gaming laptops that cost between Tk 23000 and Tk 25000.
President of Bangladesh Computer Samity, Md. Shahid Ul Munir, said: “business depends on demand and recently, the demand for laptops has risen; the gaming market is huge and since these laptops can be carried, their attraction increases.”
But parent have to be careful that their children do not become addicted to the games, he warned.
“We get all the latest games and place client satisfaction over business.”
One of the directors of Smart Technologies, Mujahid Al Beruni, says: “at present, 20-22 thousand laptops are sold in the country every month; of these, 400-500 are gaming laptops; these are high end laptops and thought these can be used for programming, graphics design and other work, they are mainly known as gaming laptops.”
Saying that the market for gamers is widening, he observed: “since parents have higher purchase ability, they are getting these for their children.”
Country manager of Gigabyte, Mohammad Anas Khan, observed: “we are getting strong response from the Gigabyte gaming laptop and are now selling laptops between Tk 172000 and Tk 225000; we also have laptops costing around Tk 500000.”
