Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal served up a great show of sensational hitting as Bangladesh racked up 322 runs losing three wickets in 43 overs in their rain-truncated third and final ODI of the series against Zimbabwe Friday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
This is the third consecutive time Bangladesh crossed 300, and also the fourth time two Bangladeshis got hundreds in one innings, but the first involving both openers.
Record breaking Liton hammered 176 off just 143 balls while Tamim blasted 128 off 109 deliveries at the other end to help Bangladesh to a commanding total in what is Mashrafe bin Mortaza's last match as ODI captain.
Liton in the process registered Bangladesh's highest ever individual score in the format, surpassing Tamim's 158 against the same opponent at the same venue Tuesday in the second and penultimate ODI.
Liton bludgeoned 16 fours and eight sixes in his knock while Tamim hit seven boundaries and half a dozen maximums.
This was the men in red and green's first 100-run opening wicket partnership in ODIs in 16 innings, and their eventual 292-run association broke the previous best Bangladeshi opening stand of 170, put on by Shahriar Hossain and Mehrab Hossain, also against Zimbabwe in 1999.
Earlier, Zimbabwe elected to field first.
Bangladesh made as many as four changes, Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman coming in after missing the second game.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim were benched, making way for debutants Mohammad Naim and Afif Hossain.
Bangladesh hold an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
