After splitting the Pakistan tour into three to allay security concerns, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) says it's satisfied over the security measures during the T20 matches in Lahore and ready to play Tests.
"From the very outset, we were not convinced over security, which is why we had said that we'll make a call after the T20 series," BCB President Nazmul Hassan told the media in Dhaka on Wednesday (Jan 29) before adding that the board was satisfied over the security situation in Pakistan.
"There's no reason to not play Tests. Moreover it's a part of the [ICC World] Test Championship. There's no reason to concede a walkover. We will go to play Tests," he said.
After several rounds of discussion with the Pakistan Cricket Board, in December last year, Bangladesh agreed to play only T20 matches and said tests would have to be played at a neutral venue.
After another round of talks in Dubai, in January, Bangladesh agreed to split the series into three.
As per the revised arrangement, the Bangladesh team travelled to Lahore for three T20 matches between Jan 24 and 27. The third match was abandoned without a ball being bowled on because of bad weather, giving the hosts a 2-0 series victory.
Bangladesh will to Pakistan for a test match starting on Feb 7 in Rawalpindi that will be a part of the ICC World Championship.
In March, Bangladesh will play an ODI in Karachi on Apr 3, with the second test starting two days later at the same venue.
