After the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) agreed to send the tigers to Lahore following an accord with the PCB, there had been reports that Pakistan had given up its hosting rights to Bangladesh.

“The idea that a deal was struck with Bangladesh with regards to the Asia Cup is not right. This rumour is incorrect. We have had no talks with Bangladesh in this regard,” said Wasim before the start of the first Twenty20 match at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday (Jan 24).

“Under the current circumstances we do not think they [India] will come to Pakistan. We have the option of playing in the UAE in this regard,” he said.

“We are currently considering two venues to host the Asia Cup,” he added. “If India doesn’t come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, we would also refuse participation in the 2021 T20 World Cup there.”

Wasim concluded saying the PCB would try to at least get the hosting rights of at least three ICC tournaments from its cycle of activities from 2023 to 2030.
