The official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has raised eyebrows over cross promotion of a particular team in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) Twenty20.
Record has been nil of the official BCB pages coming into direct promotion of any of the BPL teams till date.
In a rare and first-time incident, the cricket regulator Facebook page has been found to promote the Dhaka Platoon team.
BCB officials, however, argue that official cricket board pages are entitled to promote teams.
“There is no obligation that the BCB pages cannot promote the teams as they are part of the board. The teams just need to ask for cross promotions,” a BCB official, asking not to be named ,said on Thursday (Dec 12).
However, in several occasions the BCB has turned down requests by BPL teams for cross promotion through it social media pages.
Speculations are rife that Dhaka Platoon are getting extra mileage due to common operations.
Gazi Group owns the rights of maintaining BCB social media platforms, while it is also sponsor of Dhaka Platoon.
