SA Games: Bangladesh men's cricket team clinch gold

Bangladesh national cricket team have won the gold medal at the ongoing 13th South Asian Games.
Electing to field first on winning the toss, Bangladesh restricted Sri Lanka to 122 runs all out at Kritipur, Nepal on Monday (Dec 9).
Sri Lanka’s Shammu Ahsan scored the highest 25 while Pathum Nissanka (22), Nishan Madushka (16) and Charith Asalanka (12) were other batsmen to reach a double-digit
Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3-20. Mahedi Hasan, Sumon Khan, and Tanvir Islam shared four wickets.
In response, Bangladesh chased the target in 18.1 overs, scoring 125 runs at the loss of three wickets. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto scored the highest 35* and Saif Hassan contributed 32 runs for Nepal.
Soumya Sarkar scored 27 and Yasir Ali added 19 to take Bangladesh home with 11 balls remaining.
Umar Adam and L Shafeeg took three and one wickets respectively for the Maldives.
Kamindi Mendis and Shacindu Colombage shared two wickets from Sri Lanka
Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud was awarded player of the match while Sri Lanka’s Kamindi Mendis was adjudged as player of the series.
With the gold in cricket, Bangladesh took its tally of the top prizes in the 2019 South Asian Games to 19.
