Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan, BKF president, inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.
Host Bangladesh bagged its first and only gold medal Friday in the junior men’s team kata event where Bijoy, Proshanto and Rabbi beat India’s Ajanka, Bidhan and Yasbansal.
In the cadet men’s individual kata category, India’s Aumiya Sundar notched gold while Bangladesh’s Tayem Hawlader took silver.
In the U-21 men’s individual kata event, India’s Bindia Naven claimed gold while Bangladesh’s Sahadul bagged silver.
In the junior men’s individual kata category, Sri Lanka’s Ikanayek notched gold while Bangladesh’s Nayeem Souvon claimed silver.
In the cadet women’s individual kata event, Sri Lanka’s Samarakon picked up gold while India’s Ishita took silver.
In the cadet and junior women’s team kata event, India notched gold while Sri Lanka bagged silver.
In the U-21 women’s individual kata category, India’s Tanwar notched gold while Bangladesh’s Jannatul Ferdous Sumi claimed silver.
In the junior women’s individual kata event, Sri Lanka’s Tharusi notched gold while India’s Kanika Gupta bagged silver.
The two-day long event will come to an end Saturday with the presentation ceremony where Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen will be present as the chief guest.
Around 245 players from five countries - India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Bangladesh - participated in 60 events across different categories – cadet, junior, U-21 and senior – in the tournament.
