Bangladesh women cricketers return home

Bangladesh women’s cricket team has returned home after a successful tour of Europe.
Bangladesh Cricket Board CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury and other board officials received the Tigresses after they landed at the Dhaka airport on Monday.
Speaking to media at the airport, Chowdhury said, “We are proud of the women team’s achievement. They have got the expected result in the World T20I Qualifiers.”
“I hope they will be consistent and hold onto the success. We are yet to achieve a good result in the World Cup so now our target is set on the success in big tournaments. I believe the Women will play well in the West Indies,” he said.
Thanking all, Tigresses skipper Salma Khatun said, “Team unity brought these successes. Our team now hold a good position. Though, we have won three trophies straight, but we do not want to stop here. We want to move Bangladesh (team) forward and make a habit of regular winning against the big teams,” she said.

Bangladesh women’s team drew attention after they beat India to win the Asia Cup T20I title in June.
Then, the Tigresses toured to Ireland and beat the home side 2-1 in a three-match T20I series. Later, they traveled to the Netherlands for the Women’s World T20I Qualifiers and emerged unbeaten champion.
The women’s team will be on rest for couple of days and then report for the national camp ahead of the World T20I to be held in the West Indies from Nov 9 to Nov 24 this year.
Eight top ranking teams - India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Ireland and host West Indies will participate in the in the tournament with World T20I Qualifiers champion Bangladesh and runners up Ireland .”
