Rani Hamid bags her 20th national title

File photo: WIM Rani Hamid of Titas Club became champion in the WALTON 38th National Women’s Chess Championship, 2018.Reigning women’s champion, Women’s International Master Rani Hamid of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party retained the Marcel Refrigeration National Women's Chess Championship as the unbeaten champion at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room, National Sports Council’s old building in Dhaka on Friday (Sept 28).

Rani earned 8.5 points out of nine games and this was her 20th national title.

WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society became runners-up with eight points.

Two players garnered seven points each.

In the tie-breaking system, Ahmed Walijah of Elegant International Chess Academy finished third and Women’s Fide Master Nazrana Khan Eva of Manikganj ended fourth.

Women’s Candidate Master Noshin Anjum of EICA became fifth with 6.5 points.

Five players earned six points each.
