In a few hours-time, the final of the World Cup will begin with France taking on the new power in world football, Croatia. But for fans in Bangladesh, the sizzle and spice of the World Cup final was lost when Brazil and Argentina crashed out form the knock out stages.
Even if one of the two had made it to the final, the World Cup deciding match tonight would be an explosive one.
Former Bangladeshi football player, Aslam, said: “we love Latin football; on the other side, European teams depend on hit and run style of the game, or what is better known as power football.”
Power football has taken the two teams to the final, though in our hearts, we will always be in love with the Latin game, he added.
I feel in the next World Cup, Argentina and Brazil will make a turn around, hoped the once deadly striker of local football.
However, Aslam also admitted that European football has made remarkable strides in recent times.
“Though it’s depressing to miss stars like Neymar, Messi from the final.”
To look from the positive side, Griezman, Modric, Mbeppe have captivated with their skills and the world will discover some new stars, commented Aslam, who found millions of fans in Bangladesh after a superb volley over Indian goalkeeper, Atanu Bhatyacharya, in the SAF Games football final in 1985.
Former national midfielder, Hasan al Mamun says: “in our region, there are more fans of Argentina and Brazil since there are countless fans of Messi and Neymar.”
However, the SAFF Football final winning player from 2003, believes new stars will emerge from France and Croatia.
