Bangladesh choose to bat; both teams bring in extra spinner

nonameBangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal decided to bat against Sri Lanka in the second ODI at the R Premadasa Stadium. Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne had taken the same decision in the first game, which the hosts won by 91 runs.

Akila Dananjaya is set for his first international since March 2019 on Colombo on Sunday. His effectiveness had decreased since remodelling his action and was ignored for the World Cup in the British Isles. He has now caught the attention of the Lankan selectors again after impressing for Sri Lanka A in India.

Bangladesh made one change in their playing eleven, Rubel Hossain is out, and Taijul Islam comes in. As for Sri Lanka, Thisara has been left out and Malinga is done with ODIs. Udana and Akila return.
