Bangladesh need 168 runs to win the first T20I of the series against Afghanistan held in India’s Dehradun.
Afghanistan started well as a half-century partnership between the openers set them up for a formidable total but their middle order collapsed thanks to the Bangladesh spinners.
Afghanistan collected 71 off the last the five overs of their innings to put a competitive total.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opt to field at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
Shakib said a lack of knowledge about the conditions in Dehradun prompted the decision. Asghar Stanikzai, the Afghanistan captain, simply said, "Toss doesn't matter."
This is only the second T20I between the two sides, and a historic occasion for Dehradun which is hosting its first international match.
