Tigers have already secured their place in the super four, leaving Thursday’s match against Afghanistan a formality. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) authorities are seizing the opportunity to try out couple of youths in the squad while allowing rest for a few seniors in this Asia Cup match.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Abu Haider Roni are set to make their one-day debut against the Afghans, BCB officials said. Shanto will be replacing Tamim Iqbal, who is back in Bangladesh after suffering a wrist injury during the first match of the series against Sri Lanka. Young pacer Abu Haider Roni will be playing in place of Mostafizur Rahman, who will be rested.

Team management has also decided to rest Mushfiqur Rahim, and Muminul Haque is set to replace him in the Afghan clash that will mark his return to the one-day squad after three years.

Shakib al Hasan is also likely to get rest, in which case, left-handed spinner Nazmul Islam Opu will get the opportunity to wear the red-green uniform.
