“He spoke to me on the phone. I have the records and can provide proof. But I don’t want to stoop so low,” he said during an event the AL headquarters at Bangabandhu Avenue on Tuesday (Feb 18).
Quader’s remarks came after Fkahrul said earlier in the day that there has been no discussion with Quader regarding Khaleda’s release on parole.
“Mirza Fakhrul requested me. What does he want to prove?” he said before adding that there are records of their conversation on phone.
Quader said that Khaleda is serving time in a graft case and the government can’t do anything about her release. “If it was a political lawsuit then there would have been a question of releasing her on political considerations.”
He added that no appeal for parole has been filed on behalf of Khaleda.
On Khaleda’s health, he said that she is suffering from old age complications and there have been talks from her family to release her on humanitarian grounds.
