“We have announced protests across the Dhaka Metropolitan to demand the city polls results be scrapped, restore democracy and freeing Khaleda Zia,” Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told the media on Sunday (Feb 2).
He added that during the protest Tabith Awal and Ishraque Hossain, who took part in the mayoral race for Dhaka North and South respectively, will bring to light the blatant vote rigging, terrorising and their agents being driven out of the centres.
Fakhrul slammed the prime minister saying that nothing happens without her order and she has to carry out the duties of the Election Commission.
He reiterated that the state has turned into a fascist one.
The senior BNP leader claimed that several of their activists were arrested during Sunday’s day-long shutdown.
He said that strike was “successful” and congratulated the citizens of Dhaka for “observing” it.
