Jahangir Kabir Nanak. File PhotoThe people have boycotted BNP’s shutdown over the Dhaka City polls, says the ruling Awami League.
The party’s Presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak made the remarks at the AL chief’s Dhanmondi offices in Sunday (Feb 2).
“The people are disappointed and angered by them calling a shutdown and boycotting the results,” he said.
“People have boycotted the shutdown just as they have been boycotting BNP. If they do not discontinue negative politics even after that they will disconnect from the people even more and will be shunned,” he added.
Nanak said that people have shunned the culture of strikes and regular vehicle movement showed that people have boycotted BNP politics.
Nanak said that BNP brings false accusation just for the sake of opposing and are actively trying to make the election questionable.
Responding to queries on low voter turnout, he said, “BNP’s anti-election character is behind it.”
He added that BNP had been scaring the voters with their comments.
