The ruling Awami League-led coalition has claimed that the BNP are out to make the upcoming Dhaka City polls "questionable".
At a meeting with the Election Commission on Wednesday (Jan 29), leaders of the 14-party Alliance alleged that BNP is 'mobilising muscle' in Dhaka to create unrest during the city polls, scheduled for Feb 1.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, former minister Dilip Barua of Samyabadi Dal, said, “They [BNP] want to create electoral tension.”
The senior leader of the coalition said, “We thanked the Commission for ensuring a congenial polls atmosphere.”
“We have urged the EC to ensure law and order along with voters’ security during the polls,” said former industries minister Barua adding that the Commission has assured of proper measures.
