The 20-party-alliance will back the BNP candidate contesting the Dhaka city corporations polls scheduled for January.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the alliance on Friday (Dec 27) at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office, National Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan who serves as the alliance’s coordinator told the media
No representatives of BNP’s long-time ally Jamaat-e-Islami were present during the meeting.
“The Jamaat leaders who attend the meetings were out of the country,” Khan said.Representatives of both faction of the Liberal Democratic Party were present during the meeting.
Nazrul Islam Khan condemned the attacks on Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur and Daily Sangram office and it’s Editor Abul Asad.
He said that the 20-party-alliance will celebrate the golden jubilee of Independence from Mar 26, 2020 to Mar 26, 2021 and a sub-committee has been formed over it.
