BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir RizviTwo imprisoned leaders of the BNP’s student wing Chhatra Dal have been named in a case filed over the torching of three motorbikes at the Supreme Court premises.
On Dec 11, Shahbag police opened a lawsuit for arson against 135 BNP leaders including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Among the accused, Chhatra Dal’s former organising secretary Ishaq Sarker and its Dhaka University unit leader Mostafizur Rahaman have been named, both of whom have been in jail for a long time.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi while briefing the media on Friday (Dec 13) said, “Did they get out of prison and torch the bikes?”
Terming the both the cases as “weird,” Rizvi said claimed that law enforcing agencies set fire to the motorbikes themselves to falsely accuse BNP activists.
“Similar to the government, the police have also turned into a factory to produce ficticious information,” he said before adding that random party leaders including those who are dead are being named in lawsuits.
“The police didn’t find the owner of the motorbikes but named 135 leaders. Does it take 135 leaders to torch three motorbikes?” he lashed out.
The BNP leader claimed that the ruling party and “special government forces” were framing BNP in these cases.
