The BNP has announced for countrywide demonstrations and rallies for Nov 23 to press the release of its incarcerated chief Khaleda Zia.
Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement on Tuesday (Nov 19) during a press briefing at the party's headquarters.
"Metropolitan and district units across the country will hold protest rallies on Nov 23. The Dhaka rally in front of the Naya Paltan BNP headquarters has been scheduled for 2pm," he said.
The 74-year-old former prime minister, who is currently serving a 17-year prison sentence in two corruption cases, has been receiving treatment at the BSMMU since Apr 1 under the supervision of the jail authorities.
