The opposition bloc's Office Secretary Jahangir Alam Mintu told Bangla Tribune on Sunday (Nov 17) that a letter, seeking permission for five Oikya Front leaders, has been forwarded to the offices of the inspector general of prisons.
"The letter requested to allow JSD President ASM Abdur Rab and its Vice-President Tani Rab, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, pro-BNP professional leader Zafrullah Chowdhury and Gano Forum General Secretary Reza Kibria to meet Khaleda Zia on Nov 18 or 19," he said.
Khaleda has been in jail since she was convicted in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case in Feb 8, 2018. She was found guilty in another corruption case later the same year on charges what the BNP claims as “politically-motivated.”
She has been receiving treatment at the BSMMU since Apr 1.
