This May 2014 picture shows BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in jail, and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a programme in Dhaka. MAHMUD HOSSAIN OPU/File PhotoBNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Khaleda Zia is on the verge of becoming an invalid.
She is so ill that she cannot eat with her own hands and someone else has to feed her, he said.
He made the comments at a human chain demanding the release of Khaleda Zia,
Demanding a truthful report of the actual health condition of Khaleda Zia, he added: this government is alienated from the people and as long as they are in power the people will suffer.
Alluding to the price hike of essentials, he observed: “Today, the price of essentials is out of the reach of the common person.”
He also slated the water treaties made with India, saying that instead of making an agreement on Teesta, the PM gave water from Feni River in Bangladesh.
Permission has been given to India to place radars at the Bay of Bengal; we want a full explanation to this and the agreements need to be cleared to the masses, he added.
“We should unite to release Khaleda Zia and bring down this tyrannical government.”
